Top marks for our security team

The security team of Shetland FM has won coveted Security Industry Authority (SIA) approved contractor status with the highest mark yet for a new company.

As a result, some of our processes will be recommended to the security industry in the UK as “best practice”.

We operate the Sella Ness and Viewforth accommodation sites, and also provide a range of security services on and off-island.

The representative of auditing body SSAIB stated that “for a new company SFM Security achieved the highest score to date for their first assessment, and some of their business processes will also be recommended to the security industry as ‘best practice’.”

Shetland FM director of security Simon Orchard said: “This is a proud moment for the team and we now look forward to using our accreditation in Shetland and further afield as we prepare for the future.”

The objective of the SIA's approved contractor scheme is to raise performance standards and to assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities.

The scheme is voluntary and was developed in consultation with representatives from across the security industry.

The approved contractor scheme provides a framework for setting, improving and monitoring the standards of management and of service delivery among suppliers of private security services.

SFM Security, with its ACS status, demonstrates to its clients that it is committed to customer service and the compulsory licensing of its staff.

There is a single scheme, with sector-specific approval based on a relevant set of qualifying criteria.

Meanwhile, we are offering bespoke security services to other local businesses in the islands.
