Lauren Doughton

Project Manager (Promote Shetland)

Lauren joined NB Communication in 2018 as Project Manager on the Promote Shetland contract.

In her role as Project Manager Lauren is responsible for the day to day management of the Promote Shetland contract, working closely with project partners, stakeholders and the rest of the NB team to develop and deliver campaigns and activities to promote Shetland as an excellent place to live, work, study, visit and invest.

Lauren has extensive experience in leading teams to deliver marketing campaigns and projects, and in managing complex work schedules. Prior to joining the NB team she was Marketing Manager for Shetland Arts Development Agency.

She has a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Manchester and a background in heritage marketing and engagement. Having worked in both the public and private sector in Shetland over the last eight years, including working on the destination marketing project, the THING Project at Shetland Amenity Trust, undertaking a watching brief during construction works for the Shetland Gas Plant, and a stint in off-shore and decommissioning support at Peterson, she has a broad understanding of the Shetland economy, and what makes it tick. Originally from England, she also has a good understanding of just what it involves to undertake a move to Shetland.

Outside of work Lauren is involved in a number of community projects and groups. She is chair Shetland regional committee of the British Horse Society, a committee member for the Shetland Indoor Arena group, plays solo cornet with the Lerwick Brass Band and is involved in several local heritage projects. She is also a member of the Shetland Arts and Crafts Association, making traditional heirloom teddy bears. She owns two small hairy dogs, and two slightly larger, but equally hairy Shetland ponies, and in her spare time can usually be found out and about around Shetland on her Icelandic Horse Esja.
